Macbeth Theatre Trip: Year 11

Macbeth Theatre Trip

With the infamous Porter acting as narrator, an ensemble of 7 actors create a cauldron of characters, as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth make their perilous descent towards Hell.

On Monday 25th March, the English department took 55 Year 11 students to see Dickens Theatre Company present the Bard’s bloodiest tragedy at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.  The trip provided a valuable opportunity for students to view live theatre that will support their understanding of a GCSE English Literature set text.

Set against a back-drop of wars, witchery and treasonous plotting, Shakespeare’s ambitious ‘Macbeth’ remains ominously relevant in the 21st Century. Seeing the text brought to life on stage is always extremely valuable and the English department staff were so proud of all the students whose behaviour throughout was exceptional.

If this has whet your appetite for more, there is another production of ‘Macbeth’ starring Ralph Fiennes which is touring the country now but is also being screened in cinemas from 2nd May this year.  Follow this link or search ‘Macbeth: The Show’ to find out more.
