Attendance
Cedars Upper School is committed to provide the best possible education for all of its students through the provision of high quality learning experiences, we consider regular and punctual attendance to be essential to maximise the benefits of these learning experiences. The school is committed to working with parents, carers and students to ensure that high levels of attendance are achieved and ensure that students are fully aware of the positive correlation between attendance and attainment. We regularly celebrate the positive attendance of students and share this with parents and carers. It is a legal requirement of parent/carers to ensure that their child, or children in their household, attends school regularly and punctually. Medical evidence must be proved for all absences and intervention support may be sought from the Access & Inclusion Service, for any family where attendance becomes a concern. A fixed penalty notice may be issued for any unauthorised absence totalling more than 10 sessions (each day consists of 2 sessions) in a 12 week period. If you are concerned regarding your child's attendance or issues that may be affecting this, please contact the school.
These facts will hopefully show the importance of positive attendance. The attendance policy can be found here.
For full details of roles and responsibilities linked to attendance please reference this document here.
If you need to report an absence from school, please telephone directly to the student's Year Office or the main school reception prior to 8.30 on the first day of absence.
