Reporting an Absence
Your child’s attendance at school has a direct impact on their final attainment and outcomes. At Cedars Upper School we want to ensure all our students have the best opportunities to succeed and have choices in their future careers. We will support all students and their families to ensure students are in school everyday for every lesson.
We understand that at times there may be exceptional circumstances, or illness, which means a student is unable to attend, however we do recommend that all appointments are made outside of school hours where possible, and that students come into school if they have minor illnesses which can be managed with over the counter medication. Likewise, students should not take holidays during term time. The graph below shows the impact of time away from school on a child’s learning time with their specialist teacher.
If you have any queries about your child’s attendance, please contact their tutor or the year team in the first instance.
If you need to report an absence from school, please telephone directly to the student's year time or the main school reception prior to 8.30 on the first day of absence.
